On April 24, 2007, Intellareturn Corp. announced its Append® Envelope Technology, which uses conductive ink antennas to transmit data to wireless reader devices. It calls its technology “Smart Stamp®” and according to a press release by Intellareturn, the system links supplemental text, audio and video files to envelopes.
This technology could one day be used with wireless phones or other handheld devices. For example, a company could use the technology on a mail piece to direct a recipient to a Web site that features a special offer or include additional product or service information.
